Sony KDL-EX720 and PS3 3D, double images

When playing games on my PS3 with this 3D tv I'm having some issieus, the images with Motorstorm 3D, Stardust... well all 3D games, the images seem to be double. Now the first thing is, I've got a HDMI 1.3 cable, not a 1.4, but I was under the assumption it wasn't necessary for the PS3. Secondly, there's nothing blocking the infrared receiver or anything, so no problems there.

Any ideas?

Welcome on the Sony Forum

When you see a double image (side by side) instead of a normal 3D image (fullscreen) on your tv,

you need to select "side by side" accordingly in the 3D menu from your tv.

I'm sorry I didn't explain it right. It's not literally a double image, it does display 3D, but it looks like everything is a bit double if you know what I mean. I think the term is ghosting. I know LED/LCD has this a little, but it's not a little, it's a lot.

I'm having the same issue described above with the same TV, using PS3 and (fully charged and activated) 3D glasses TDGBR200B. 3D is present and functional however there is double imaging when playing 3D films (specifically PIRHANA 3D). I can re-focus the 3D using the TV remote but this alters on any given scene and double imaging returns.

Your above solution is not possible as it's not simulating 3D, it IS 3D....

What film(s) were you using as a test?

I only have Piranha 3D. I saw it at the cinemas and the 3D blurring wasn't present at that time, only on my TV...

The crosstalk on the KDL-EX720 is horrible! It is impossible to enjoy ANY of my 3D Blu-Rays / 3D TV

I play the BluRays on sony's PS3 with a 1.4HDMI cable, every setting is correct but still i get the crosstalk (double images) The problem isn't only in Europe, the US forum is full with comments like this on the KDL serie!

I just contacted Sony support center via phone, they can only say that they know about the problem, but no one seems to know when or how the problem will be fixed!

i expected if i would use a SONY PS3 on a SONY TV that i would have the best quality you can get...

Sony is being very unclear about the progress of the problem

So Mr. Sony,

Give us our money back (we invested in a 3d TV that is actually a good 2D tv with really bad 3D)

OR Give the people who bought the KDL bad 3D TV's another 3D TV that actually works

OR Give us the updates we need to finaly enjoy the 3D experience on the KDL serie and keep us informed about the progress.

People don't expect to buy a 3D TV and having to wait months and months before they can actually get where they paid for!

Also same problem with 3D look here, if you still look you get headaches.
My KDL-55EX720 has already 4 weeks been at the repairman.
This recognised the problem initially but could not solve, and gave the advice to turn off motion flow.
But just what you says no change in setting whatever helps.
Have actually already specified that I can look at this piece yet ever good 3D!
I only bought a new set of LG, this is smaller but gives a perfectly sharp image without double whatever.

I have 55 EX720 TV for a while and have the same problem on 3D, after I read thru the forum on AVS website Official Sony EX720 Owner thread. I try some setting that can reduce cross talk on 3D that I am happy with it.

I use HD player to play 3D file to my 55 EX720. The file is 3D SBS and 3D ISO file. When I play 3D SBS file, I set the HD player to play 3D SBS file by select SBS menu in the option. This selection will feed 3D signal to 55 EX720, so on TV the 3D menu will turn ON automatically.

On 55 EX720 3D menu, I set the

3D Depth = 0,

3D Glass brightness = Auto

The Picture Menu on the 55 EX720 is set as follow;

Picture mode = Standard
Picture, Brightness, Color, you can set as you like
Nosie Reduction = Auto
MPEG Noise = Auto
Dot Noise = Auto
Motion Flow = Off
Cinema Drive = Off

In this setting, the 3D picture improve a lot, less cross talk on the upper half of the screen. I can watch the whole movie with more perception of 3D. The cross talk appear only in some scene and depend from movie on movie.

For the 3D ISO file, it is much less cross talk compare to 3D SBS file. I watch AVATAR 3D ISO which it is display full screen on the 55 EX720. It is almost no cross talk at all. They may have some cross talk on the out of focus picture in the movie. But it is much less appearance.

In this setting the picture on the screen show some flicker, especially on very bright scene.

You can try this and share your result.
