Tablet locked by MXTP

Hi,

after a reboot yesterday, i saw the "Theft protection"-"Protected" screen as usual.

But this time it told me that my "Password or Username" are wrong, but they are not.. so the whole tablet is locked now.

After i found this topic i tried to factory reset the tablet via "Sony PC Companion" and deleted all my data on it but its still locked.

Im unable to reset it via "My Xperia" cause ive removed my tablet there yesterday in hope it would help.

The local "Xperia Care" told me that sending it back to Sony and get it repaired at my own cost is the only way to get my new tablet back.

So for all of you who are still able to use the Tablet:
Please deactivate this buggy feature by
"Settings" -> "Security" -> "Protection by my Xperia"

as soon as possible - if you dont want to lose your tablet.

I tries to remove my son's email settings from my Gmail app and, what I am now going to title as the "Black Screen Of Death", appeared.

Entering both mine and my son's Gmail account details do no good as "incorrect account/password" come up.

I was told by Agent Lisbeth that this is a known issue and the only choice I have is to return it to Xperia Care.

I'VE ONLY HAD THIS TABLET FOR ONE DAY!!

Please update/remove this feature so that others don't fall foul of this as well.... I loved the Z1 and just gave it away to a friend this very morning because I've been waiting to get this lovely new Z4 for ages.

How can we help you at this forum? Having MXTP it's a great feature if you ever lose your tablet

It is and it was on my Z1 tablet and on my Z1 phone as well, however many countless times I removed accounts on there... Either my own, my partners or my son's... This did not happen. Being a know fault on the Z4 that requires the tablet to be sent back in should require an update/patch do you not think?

My post was more in the nature of a rant/preventative measure for others

That's not quite accurate, MXTP it's not the same on other Xperias, this is at the bootloader level on the Z4, so repairing it with PCC won't solve this, you can see it as a issue or as a feature
