Hi, I just got my Sony Bravia on Friday and have been delighted with it. I immediately hooked it up to my broadband and found it could access and play mp3s from my laptop without me having to connect the two which was awesome. However tonight when I try to play any files from my laptop it says "Playback not available". I have no idea how to fix this problem so any help would be really appreciated. The internet connection is fine and it is able to show photos from my laptop too, so I assume the connection betweent the 2 devices is fine also. Any ideas? Thanks.

*update* installed serviio and mp3s are now playing fine. Thanks very much to Catmambo, whatever the problem was I'm gald I can play my music again!
Hi
Install Serviio on your PC and that will act as the DLNA server, transcoding any videos on your PC so they are playable on your TV
Thanks
Thanks, i will try this after work. Will this help with the mp3 playback also, or only videos?
MP3 should playback natively anyhow, but this can manage everything.
thanks
Yeah, initially mp3 files on my laptop were playing fine on the Bravia but then suddenly it just stopped and all I get when I try is the playback not available message. That's what i can't understand, why they were playing ok for a few days and now nothing. I will see if installing Serviio makes any difference. Thank you.
With WMP on the server half my AVI files played and half didn't.
Installed Serviio and after a bit of messing about with the Windows firewall got to see Serviio on the Sony and it played them all. Seems faster too. And the files are listed in the right order now.
Happy bunny
