Wrong time + greyed out time options (Bravia 2015 Android TV)

Hi,

I have the KDL-50W755C, Bravia 2015 Android TV. Unfortunately, the time is wrong - its time is 88 minutes in the future. I wanted to change it in the settings, but all options are greyed out. When I go to "Settings" --> "Date & Time" --> "Time", only the option "Use 24-hour format" is available. All other 3 options, one of them "Set time", are greyed out. The time zone is the correct one.

So now the TV is showing a wrong time and is not allowing to change it. What can I do about it?

Thanks for your help!

First post here to confirm that I’m experiencing exactly the same problem on my 43XD8305:

1. Settings for broadcast time and time zone are fixed (greyed out)

2. I'm running the latest available Android version (8.0) and firmware

3. I live in The Netherlands and system settings for country are set accordingly

4. I don't use the cable/antenna or satellite connectors (only ethernet for watching Netflix, YouTube, etc.)

5. After a hard reset, or disconnect from the power, the clock gets out of sync (it was set to September 2016 in my case)

6. Notifications about "No internet connection" pop up, and all apps except Netflix refuse to start.

Last weekend I removed all connectors and did a factory reset to check if I was able to set the time manually. After reboot I went straight to the system settings but *still* "broadcast time" was already selected and greyed out. Unbelievable and incredibly frustrating.

I'm going to try setting the country to Belgium next time, but I dread going the ADB route.

Either way I think these are not sustainable solutions. This is a serious bug introduced with one of the latest updates that needs fixing on Sony's part and I would be deeply disappointed if they don't.

There are multiple software/firmware versions that are Android 8.0 Oreo. You can check the latest software version for your TV here.

What worked for me, whole reset, when they ask for what country do you live pick UK and language English and changed time from broadcast to network.

After that I tried to pull the the cable out of the electricity and I still get the same time and can use all apps.

Im from the Netherlands.

My solution was to move the coax and smart card from my TV setup box (Ziggo in my case) to the Smart TV and did the sender setup. That way the TV read the correct time. Then moved all back originally. All my apps worked again and the no ethernet connection message disappeared. So NO need to factory reset.

Btw, the issue was caused by an electricity fallout (circuit braker kicking in) due to a shortcut somewhere else in house.

I too am having the exact same issues where date + time are greyed out. Factory reset did the trick, but the moment I turn off my TV and turn it back on, the issue is back.

I do not understand how this bug is still here and not fixed.  All apps except Netflix are unuseable.

I'm also from the Netherlands, have Ziggo for TV/Internet, so connection is through coax cable / hdmi into the TV. Internet connection through wifi.

Will keep a close eye on this community post, hoping a fix for regular users will be available soon.

Make another factory reset and choose for belgium as locatie, after the instalation you  choose at the time settings for network time.

Reset de tv nogmaals maar kies dan als land België.

Nadat de installatie voltooid is ga naar tijd instellingen en kies voor netwerk tijd.

Unfortunately no update for the AG9/A9G yet.

Have you tried resetting your AG9 to factory settings or disabling YouView temporarily and checking if the settings are affected?

John,

As I mentioned before, this was my solution:

I have used an old coaxial cable as a dvb-t antenna. My father suggested to use this instead of a dvb-t antenna. I guided the cable to the closest window next to my television and I let my Sony tv search for digital channels.  To my own surprise it found 51 channels. Dutch NPO was one of them. Immediately it synced the time via this channel and all apps are accessible again.

As soon as the latest update was available, I updated my xe9005. The problem had not yet occurred since then. So a factory reset has not been necessary until today.
