vgc rc204 - keyboard not working

I just bought a sony vaio vcg rc204 desktop pc that comes with a wireless bluetooth keyboard, the machine is only about a month old.

anyway the bluetooth mouse works just fine but for some reason the keyboard doesn't work at all, I tried changing the batteries (although the power indicator on the keybaord has always said full) I even did a full system restore on the pc back to default factory settings, all to no avail.

any suggestions? or do I need a new keyboard?

xp sp2 mce, all the latest updates present btw

Press connect button underneath the keyboard AND on the receiver. Both actions have to happen in between 5 seconds, otherwise no connect.

What is the keyboard model number? Are you using the one supplied with your RC204?

I don't think desktops have a bluetooth function and the keyboard and mouse are RF transmitters. You do have the receiver VGP-WRC1 connected to a USB Port?

If you are using the original Keyboard VGP-WKB1 and mouse VGP-WMS1, you have tried Joe's advice above and the mouse is working, it does sound like a keyboard hardware problem.
