ok thx for the advice kee lo, but what and where is powerpannel?? ive looked at my power settings and cant see anywhere which lets me change the brightness of my screen, and what is adaptive processing? sorry if these seem like silly questions, also sony shouldnt put that the battery wil last 1 hour and 45 minutes unless it actually does without changing settings or at least give u a manual to tell u how to make the most use of the battery, alls i got with my laptop is a lot of useless manuals, and the guide on the cd is just as bad.l

PowerPanel is a program for VAIOs to control the power. It's a power gage icon in the system tray.

In there you can change stuff to suit your enviorment, and what you're doing (word processing, spreadsheets etc).

Righ click this icon, and go to edit / change profile.

Change the settings in there and save it as a new scheme.

Edit: oh yeah forgot the adaptive processing. This just means that if you're doing Word Processing, it will use less CPU time, saving power.

Ah there's your problem, as it's a desktop chip you can't control things like that.

hi,

look at your keyboard... look for the blue letters... keep the blue FN button pressed while you press the function key(F5) then use your arrow keys to ajust.

check for a utility called POWERPANEL... there you can set all of the power-management possiblities
