Hi,
Currently, there is a great Transcend memory offer on iBood.
I have a Sony Vaio VGN-A417M notebook with 512 MB DDR2 SD-RAM (400 MHz). I would like to upgrade this notebook with two 1 GB DDR2 SD-RAM (667 MHz) memory modules from Transcend. But I think the Sony Vaio's don't support memory from other vendors.
Also, I don't know the exact specs from my Vaio: some websites say it kan take maximum 1 GB RAM, other say 2 GB RAM. The specs are removed from the official Sony website. I don't have the box anymore and I pulled the stickers of the keyboard.
Does anyone here own a Sony Vaio VGN-A417M and did you ever upgrade it with memory from another vendor? If yes, did you have any problems?
Thanks for any help.
Kind regards,
Sweepee
Hi Sweepee
According to the specs your A417M uses DDR2 533mhz So-Dimm modules and is upgradable to 2GB of RAM
Also have a look at Cruical.com several members have bought extra RAM from crucial and another benefit from buying from Crucial is there memory compatibility guarantee.
Also you may find this guide, from Sony, on how to upgrade your Vaio's memory of interest..
Thanks for the reply. Stupid of me to not check out the support pages :smileyhappy:, but I'm not really an active member here at Club Vaio.
I thought Sony removed the specs of older Vaio's. I'll take a look at the Crucial memory and then make a discission.
(Sorry for the typo's if there are any.)
You're welcome..
