Fan no longer working

I think the fan on my laptop has stopped working now for a couple of days but before that the fan was really loud and i could hear it come on everytime i watched a video or loaded something. But now i can't hear the fan at all and it doesn't seem to move at all, even when i start up my laptop. Any ideas on the cause of it or how to solve it? Thanks in advance.

Hi MM99 and welcome to Club Vaio.

Just to check what has happened, download PC Wizard 2008 and use it to look at the temperatures of your CPU when your Vaio is running a CPU intensive application (like a DVD).

If the fan has failed completely, you would expect your Vaio to shut down when the CPU reaches 90 degrees.

Post the temperatures here and we can then look at the next step.

What model Vaio do you have?

I was watching a DVD and the temperature ranged between 62 Celcius and 66 Celcius. As im typing my post the temperature is varying between 64 celcius and 69 .

The model is VGN-FJ3M/W.
