AR31M Motion Eye Webcam infrequently working - any ideas?

I have recently purchased VAIO AR31M and am having problems with the webcam which rarely works - if I go into SKPYE it says it is in use by another application - if I load VAIO camera capture it cannot find it!!!

Have you installed the Microsoft hotfix KB931812 and the VAIO Camera Capture Utility 2.2.01.04100 update..?
