This probably has a very simple answer but I'm kinda useless when it comes to these things.
I bought a sony TV yesterday KDL-40BX420 when I was doing the user preferences it urged me to do either a quick scan or a full scan on both the cable and analogue but I couldn't find any channels on neither not either 1-5 and this is supposed to come with freeview?
This is the first TV I have bought and as it was new LCD I assumed it did not need an antenna or to be connected to anything, I assumed that there would be a built in antenna. above the scart lead there is a connection with a symbol I have never seen before its like a t (T) but in two halves or like two upside down L's facing away from each other. It looks like an F connector or something.
I live in an apartment and on the wall socket there are three connections one that reads TV, another for SKY and one for FM radio. now the SKY one is already being used with what I assume is an F connector, does the TV need to be connected with an F connector also, it seems like there is space for it.
Please answer Q's
1, does this tv need an antenna or be connected to cable to recieve channels.
2, can i stick an f conector and connect to the wall
everything else works fine and am really happy with the purchase
thanks a lot.

1. Yes, unless you are connecting something like a Sky box to it instead of using the in-built Freeview tuner.
2. No, an F connector is a screw fit. You need a standard TV coax aerial lead with push fit connectors. One end to fit the socket on the back of the TV and the other to fit the 'TV' socket on your wall faceplate, assuming the faceplate connector in your apartment connects back to an aerial somewhere.

Hi
to recieve freeview you need to connect an antennae to the aerial socket on your tv, in your case you need a short aerial lead from the aerial socket on the wall to your set then allow the tv to scan and store the channels.
