Streaming from PC to a TV

Hi everyone, i was hoping you could help me with this problem

Ive been trying to stream from my desktop computer to my Bravia TV with a HDMI lead but it hasnt worked. When i connected both machines together, nothing appeared on the TV and my computer reverted to my desktop without any icons and mouse pointer making it unusable.

Whats the deal here? No idea what to do.

this depends on the setting of your pc video card , at that time you are using the tv as a monitor and you have to enable external monitor function under your video card interface...actually depend on which operating system do you have and which card brand name

Cheers for the response, how would you go about enabling this or finding out.

Im pretty useless when it comes to finding and changing this stuff.

because the setting of PC are based on its hardware and its operating system (windows or linux or etc), i would recommend you to contact your PC manufacturer or google about video card setting
