Hi guys
My parents recently bought a KDL-37EX500 tv, and now he wants a blu-ray player to, and the choice has fallen on the S480.
I have one question regarding the internet. Is there some way, that i can give both units internet, without buying two internet dongles?
And how do they work together? can i use the TV remote for them both (as the guys at sony center talked about?)
Having both connected to the net allows for automatic firmware updates and allows both to streem internet content.
I think you can live without both having this function at once but if not then their are three options.
1 As you say two wireless dongles.
2 Go to http://www.solwise.co.uk ang get their ethernet over mains solution with a single port unit at the router and a three port unit at the TV/Player and just run RJ45 patch leads to the units. Cost say £50 to £60.
3 Run sum ethernet to the TV's and put a small router at the units..
I find two wireless points near to each other some days is OK and other days tend to interfere with each other.
In saying that a secondhand Sony dongle on ebay for £50 may just do the trick.
We moved our TV a few months ago and have not had it net connected and have never missed it but YMMV.

Regarding your second question, Yes you can use the TV remote to control BDP if they are connected using HDMI cable
Here is the page of your TV i-manual which show the details
http://support.sony-europe.com/tvhc/imanual/connect.aspx?site=odw_en_GB&m=KDL-37EX500&s=hdmi
Regarding your first question, you can use LAN cables direct to your internet router
Hope this help
