Sony KV36 FS70

Hi,  my ageing KV36 FS70 has developed a problem with the picture.  When looking at the screen the image  looks to have shifted to the left as there is a wider black vertical line on the right of the screen.  No amount of adjusting using the remote makes any difference and all the menus are further to the left and in some cases cuts off some of the letters.

I understand there is a picture geometry adjustment in test mode and i wondered if this was something a novice can attempt or if not what advice can you offer.

i understand your tv is CRT type (not LCD)

Vertical shift adjustment is limited to small range through the service mode (may be 1 cm).

There is a sequence to enter this service mode by remote...i would advise if Sony service center do it for you...because old TVs sometimes need replacement of hardware component in vertical sync. circuit to fix the problem (as example the power switching transistors change its Specs by repeated warm up/ cool down cycles).
