I bought my KDL-40HX803 TV about 5 weeks ago.
Since then I have been generally happy with the picture quality, but noticed that the display was somewhat "dirty" looking towards the top of the screen in certain scenes. I put this down to viewing angles (I have the screen above me on a shelf in my bedroom) and the fact that it's an LCD and that sort of comes with the territory.
This evening, however, I came across a new digital channel called Connect. As this has not started broadcasting fully yet, a placeholder of the Connect logo with an approx 10% white background is displayed on the screen. Against the 10% background, it is very obvious that the "shop mode" icons have burnt into the display, showing the HX8, 3D world, 1080p etc. etc. logos!! So it's Sony's own shop mode that has caused damage to the screen of my new (and not inexpensive!) TV while it has been in the shop....
I need a solution to this please!!! I doubt the shop are to blame as they were only using the TV as intended - i.e., in store/shop display mode!
Hi,
Display model or not, its still the stores responsibility to resolve this issue for the duration of its gaurantee, so i would suggest you take it up with the dealer.
