KDL-46EX713 - Belkin problems

Trying to keep my TV connected to the internet but to no avail.

Once you setup the wireless connection everything is fine as long as you are using the internet services on the tv, but if I turn over to watch tv or leave it idle for 10 minutes it can't connect to the internet.

Checking connection gets 2 OKs and internet access failed.

Seting up the connection makes it work then the same thing happens again.

What is wrong?

(I've updated both the router and tv)

TV: KDL-46ex713

Router: Belkin G+ MIMO router

Hello and welcome to Sony Forums

I presume you are using Sony UWABR100 dongle (not using a wirless access point device WAP).

I presume also that you are using a secure wireless connection (username and password)

if so, the problem you described mean your router lost the IP address assigned to your TV due to IP conflict, once you setup the connection again the problem recovered

Depends on your home network type and how many devices / hub are connected , to isolate the problem you may try one of the following:

During the TV network setup, use manual setting instead of automatic setting and assign Static IP address within the same subnet to your TV , this will prevent any IP conflict with other devices connected to your home network

If the problem repeated, disconnect the Sony Dongle and use a direct ethernet cable between your TV and router just for trial purpose (disconnect any HUB in the way) and re-check the connection stability. This will isolate the problem caused by wireless connection

There are other problem causes but the above are the main probability.

Hi,

thats why you were not getting a connection first time round because you were trying to connect without the Sony dongle!, you can try the lan cable and theres no reason for it not to work, however if you wish to avoid unsightly wires everywhere then you will need a UWA-BR1OO dongle.

Bravia55HX923 what are you talking about? It doesn't need a dongle and it DOES connect.

Edit: I've tried the static IP thing but the same thing happens, it stays connected as long as you use the internet services and after you leave it idle it cannot connect and you need to setup the wireless connection again, trying to do the LAN connection will be a bit of a problem for since the router is upstairs and the tv is downstairs.

No need to get shirty!,

your tv is wireless lan ready which means if you want to connect wirelessly you need the dongle otherwise you can connect using the LAN cable (RJ45)

and since the router is upstairs the LAN is out of the question SO you will need the UWA-BR100.

I'd also make sure you have the latest firmware on your modem. I've also heard of a few compatibility issues between BRAVIA and Belkin over the years. This could just be circumstantial etc, but maybe try an alternative router/modem if you have one available..

thanks

@ Bravia55HX923,

You are a good salesman for Sony dongle  do you have special price !

timmyjimmy,

I dont know which brand name of your wireless access point WAP , but looks like the problem is not related to TV itself because you already succeeded to get the connection

The firmware for the WAP is a factor too can cause disconnection when idle

Wireless connection in general is not stable as direct connection specially when playing a high stream video , Personally, when i bought my TV i tried all types of connections then finally i decide to relocate my router to be next TV:smileyhappy:

Goodluck

KDL-CX520,

no not a salesman, but its whats on the specs for that tv, its wireless ready which means it needs the dongle to work!!, or has so many of you gone deaf you cant hear that!

i dont make the specs for the tv, Sony does and if Sony say you need the dongle, then you need the dongle.
