I ask this as I have been on both this forum and AV forum and there are many references to the screen failing and Sony refusing to replace them if they are out of warranty. Apparently this is not the case in the US. What is your position on this Sony?

Hi,
no manufacturer is without its faults no matter what you buy and each model/manufacturer has its own little problems, thats why its always a safe bet to take out extended guarantees for your particular model.
that is not to say every tv bought has a problem, as on the grand scale of things this amounts to a few from each manufacturer, and each manufacturer has its own set of rules on warranty procedures and out of warranty issues, and under the sale of goods act all products are meant to last a reasonable amount of time.
as for market/sales share not true what KDL-CX520 says about Sony leading,
Samsung are at the top here, with LG following in second and Sony in third place, they were at the top up until Samsung took the lead halfway through 2009 and no manufacturer has ever taken more than a 20% share since tv sales began.
Hello damehyndman,
The answer of your question is NO.
I am owner of 5 TV sets, all are LCD, some models are older than 5 years ago and working perfect as the new one.
Keep in mind that NO PRODUCT in the world are free of problem whatever it is a TV or Car or dishwasher
Sony is the best in many customers point of view, thats why it has the highest market share.
Regards
From experience I'd disagree with that. Market share is no guarantee of satisfaction.

BraviaHX923,
You make me laugh :smileylaugh:, when we talk about high standard product such as Sony with Japanese design and long term experince, Don't compare its market share with Korean products , i am happy that you didnot compare Sony market share with Chinese copy TV too
Sony is a BMW car , the are the leader and creator of the new technology , don't tell me FIAT have higher market share because its low price with lower quality . Comparison data should be between similar high quality products
I am a little bit in side of electronics hardware repairs, and i know how different TV are looks inside, quality of soldering points, routing of wire harness, PCBs finishing and serviceability. These are small details show you the how perfect are the designer.
Just for your information, the TV manufacturers mostly share the same suppliers for LCD panels (Sony/samsung have JV factory in taiwan ), but the difference in picture quality and sound comes from theTV engine and suplementary video processing circuit.
X-reality and X-reality pro Sony engines are big advanced step to the future video processing technology. What engines Samsung have !! and do they produce natural colors tone? . There is a design secret behind that. Sony did researches over the customers colors taste and they do it perfect.
after writting the above words i will think to change my career to be a Salesman with Sony family :smileylaugh:, but i will not sell Sony dongle
Take care
you think whatever you like, i got the above information off the net, i sincerly hope your not taking the piss as i dont of you, well not yet!,
i know who puts what panels in what and i dont care much for market share but know in which order the sales figures run with the manufacturers,
if you want to sell dongles just dont sell them to people with wi fi built in!.
in any event whats the point of arguing about it, lifes too short.
