Can PRS reader read Japanese characters?

I like to buy a PRS-T2 (or T1), does anybody know if the model sold in the Netherlands/Europe supports Japanese ebooks? In other words: are these models able to properly display Japanese characters and in the right order (top-down instead of left to right)
