Bought this camera about 3 years ago and had it all set up on my PC and i was able to import movies from the camera to the PC. Haven't used it now in a long time but the PC won't connect now. Managed to import a movie last night using windows movie maker but it was all distorted. I want to try and fix this if I can, I have firewire and all the software and drivers installed, I'm using windows XP what am I doing wrong?
Go to the support page for your model and check that youi have the latest driver and PMB versions.

Connectivity troubleshooting is quite comprehensive - look for this in the menus.
The camcorder is connecting with the PC alright, but I can't import or playback my movies from the camera to the PC.
I was looking at this page which seems to indicate that my problem may be something to do with codecs,

I don'y know anything about codecs or what there even for, so before I go about disabling or uninstalling them. Is there any other step that I could be missing out on or anything else I could try.
I think it would be a good idea to find out what items are if needed on computer?. Codecs stand for "FAST VIDEO DECOMPRESSION".
Does your camera recognised your PC ?
