webcam completely not working on brand new vaio

i recently bought those nifty new touchscreen ultrabookthings from sony (Model number:SVT1312B4E)

and i thought id try the webcam but it seems it is not detectable by any sort of software,

ive tried reinstalling the device via control panel but it seems the hardware itself is simply not on radar by any means.

i just want to know what options i have left before taking by product back (i should have some sort of warranty)

Hi broomac,

Is the camera listed in Device Manager under imaging devices? If not you could try a couple of things.

1 Shut down, remove the power adaptor and battery and then hold down the power button for 30 seconds. Reattach battery and power adaptor and reboot.

2 If this doesn’t cure the problem then open Device Manager, expand Universal Serial Bus controllers, right click and uninstall all items in the tree and then reboot – Windows will reinstall the USB controllers.

If nothing above works then return the notebook and ask for a replacement.
