Is there a touchscreen driver for this model as it seems a perfect candidate for Windows 8?

Hi demcnal and welcome.
Sony do not support Windows 8 on your model so it is probably best avoided as you will not get a fully functioning PC.
Sony use a different touch screen method from Windows 8 and there is a Windows 8 driver for the NextWindow Touch Panel available for the VPCL21M1E which may work. I have not tried it.

That was my suspicion, may as well try it. Thanks for the pointer to the driver. The worst that can happen is i have to put 7 back on.
Good Luck. Most who have tried it live to regret it!
Make sure you make a couple of sets of Recovery Discs as the Windows 8 installation appears to remove the Recovery Partition. You will not be able to return to Windows 7 without a set of discs.

I use Windows Home Server so there is no problem there it will reset it in an hour to its exact current state. I know this because I tried the Win 8 consumer preview last year and reset it when the touchscreen didn't work.
It worked perfectly. Thankyou for the help.
