Just got a SCART to S-Video Cable to replace the Composite cable from my digital set top box to the S-Video TV input on my XL301 to try improve the pic quality of TV. My issue is I can't get any picture using S-Video! Is there a setting I have to make on the 301 so it uses the S-Video? I've looked and can't find one, also looked on the STB but can't find one in there either.
The TV quality was perfect through media center when I was using a Philips 9830 TV but since I got a new Sony W3000 TV the TV quality has been terrible (smearing, motion trails and all that). Anyone know how to fix it?
I guess no one knows anything about the S-Video input then
Should work fine, I got a video signal after connecting the S-video then during the TV setup in windows media centre, selecting S-video when the option is available, you should see it live as soon as you select it.
If you have gone through the TV setup, selected S-Video and got nothing, then it's the set top box's fault. I got a Scart to S-Video converter and had the same problem. In my case, it was because my set top box was not able to output S-Video signals through the SCART socket (possibly a setup option in the Set top box). Therefore, I had to get a different set top box that specifically had an S-Video out socket (some do). Then it worked. Oh, and the quality is much better.
Thanks for the replies.
I had stupidly forgot that your have to select the TV input type when your setting up TV in media centre (been a long time since I did it). I'll have to go through the set up again when I get my TV back from Sony (it developed a fault ). Hope my STB can output S Video.
