Hello. I have just bought a sony vaio notebook (VGN-AR11m) that came with Windows Media Center 2005 allready inslalled in Italian. I want to erase this OS and install Windows XP SP2 in english. My problem is that at a starting point in the installation, the windows xp doesn't recognize my hard-disk. There is no problem with my hard disk, for sure. How can I deal with this problem?
Hi,
I had the same problem. This is typically caused due to the SATA IDE controller build in this notebook. You have to connect an external USB Floppy drive with a disk inside containing the appropriate driver. You can find this driver in the drivers folder on your Root partition. When starting your XP installation you are going to be asked if you will load additional drivers, simply answer with yes and the corresponding driver will be loaded into memory.
Than you should be able going ahead with the installation.
