windows vista malfunctioning

hi guys

iv just bought a AR31M (vista home) and am dreading it cuz nothing seems to work.....every so often whatever program im running seems to stop working and i have to shut it down.....its happens with windows explorer the most. also evertime i satrt up the computer it doenst connect to teh inter net telling me it can abtain an ip address from the DNS but if i restart it it works fine. lastly iv been trying to create recovery disks from the viao recover tool and the first disk this is teh applications one was fine but when i try making the system recovery disk it goes till 92% and then corrupts telling me to use a ne disk and try again. iv done it 3 times now and wasted 3 disks but to no avail. can u plz tell me what i shoudl do

I know the feeling, I downgraded to XP to overcome all the issues.

Hi ZHQ,

If you have not already done so, I suggest that you perform a recovery of the system using the Hard Disk Recovery Utility as it seems that the initial installation has glitches for some reason. You don’t need recovery disks to do this, just tap F10 during startup (when you see the Vaio logo) and this will take you into the recovery console.

Be aware that you will lose all data on the C drive so backup to external media.

If you still experience difficulty with wireless internet connection then try disabling the Sony wireless switch setting Utility and let Vista manage your wireless and Bluetooth connectivity. You can disable the Sony utility in Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Schedules Tasks.
