Hello,

I bought the VGN-FE21B VAIO yesterday and I am unable to get the connection to my Philips modem. It seems very strange that every time I enter the WEP key (26 positions), when I check back this WEP key on the computer, I only find 8 positions instead of 26. Any ideas ?
When I check all the available wifi connections, my router is included but it's impossible to connect my PC to the router.

You're confusing WEP KEY with PASS KEY.

A pass key is a word which translates into a 26 alphanumeric code for you to get online. Like the world football, this could be something like:

7a5e61cd7a8b0c7e73d5se435

That above is a wep key

Thank you very much Key-loo for the information's. Anyway, the message that I now get is : your wireless card is not connected to an AP. Please check whether the wireless LAN settings of station and AP are the same.

As a newbie, I need your help !

Hi Daniel,

Is the Phillips modem a wireless asdl router? Is it working already with another PC?

If it is already working have a look at this WiFi connection guide

If you haven't used it before, go through the setup instructions again.

Blencogo, thank you very much for your information's. All I had to do was to given the mac address of the new card to the router and it works now perfectly.
