Hi guys,
Hope you can help out here!
I cannot connect to the internet over wireless. I've checked / done the following.
1. Wireless switch is turned on.
2. Latest driver downloaded. Driver version: 10.1.0.15
3. Wireless connects to Access Point - gets DHCP IP info through Access Point from NTL Cable Modem, but won't browse internet, get email, download anti-virus updates - just no communication?
IP Info is as follows.
Physical Address: 00-13-02-04-48-19
IP Address: 81.108.51.178
Subnet Mask: 255.255.252.0
Default Gateway: 81.108.48.1
DHCP Server: 82.9.144.21
Lease Obtained: 11/06/2006 10:53:48
Lease Expires: 12/06/2006 19:31:23
DNS Servers: 194.168.8.100, 194.168.4.100
WINS Server:
(IP address changes from time to time when i reconnect - rest stays more or less the same).
4. An IBM Thinkpad laptop works fine, using same setup.
5. Dell Axim PDA works fine using same set up.
6. Windows Firewall is turned off just in case.
7. No internet security software installed or running.
8. All is fine in Device Manager. No faulty hardware (except the wireless card presumably, but it ain't staing as such)
9. When i try to 'Repair' the wireless connection - it doesn't go through the full cycle as it does using ethernet cabling.
10. Event viewer says the following.
"Your computer has automatically configured the IP address for the Network Card with network address 001302044819. The IP address being used is 169.254.173.90."
This is a default local address which doesn't connect me to internet. This IP differs from that which is stated in the displayed IP info above.
I then get the following error: -
"The server could not bind to the transport \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{456EE08C-AAB1-4DEB-A68F-EC91400EDE7A}."
I think this could be the issue.
11. I ping the default gateway which is shown above (this is the gateway address that comes up after i type ipconfig /all in the command prompt) and there is just requests time out.
ANY IDEA's,
This is such a pain!

Hi all,
Update - When i look up the Event Viewer Error Code (2504) on Microsoft, it says the following:-
____________________________
Details
Product: Windows Operating System
Event ID: 2504
Source: Server
Version: 5.2
Symbolic Name: EVENT_SRV_CANT_BIND_TO_TRANSPORT
Message: The server could not bind to the transport %1.
Explanation
The server could not establish a listening endpoint on the transport listed in the event. The status code returned from the underlying transport is in the Data box. This status code might explain why this operation failed. The problem might be caused by one of the following:
A lack of memory,
A malfunctioning network interface, or
A network device that became unavailable during startup.
User Action
Do one or all of the following:
To verify that your network devices are functioning correctly, look in Device Manager or access the network by using telnet, ping, etc.
If network devices are working properly, and the event status code is 9A, then the server is out of memory. Using Task Manager, determine which unnecessary programs are using the memory, and then close them.

Basically, i think my NIC card in my new VAIO is fu**ed!
Would ye agree?
(And i thought i was getting a good deal from the factory outlet? Were they shipping a laptop wjhose NIC didn't work for someone else?)
Cheers,
