Hi,
I have a noisy/buzzing fan in the power supply of my Vaio PCV-RZ221. Sony won't sell me a new one so I was wondering whether any third party manufacurers produce one that I can use. The existing power supply also has a socket for my speakers. So not sure what I would do with them if I replace with non Sony component. Also are there quieter fans that can be installed?
Any advice gratefully received

Sorry, but Sony uses a non-standard PowerSupply for their desktops. You could buy a new one. But you must use it extern then with longer cables. And that becomes ugly.
You could as a temporary measure get a can of compressed air and squirt all around the fan in case any dust is causing problems, howver it could be the ball-bearings in the fan have gone. See if this reduces the noise output.
As Seb said, it is not possible to get Sony power supplies, but the external ones would be OK, just a little ugly.

ROFL Kris, you certainly could not complain about poor ventilation, cooling or power problems in that PC!

Sorry, what did you say LOL
