I think its the 128k stripe size.
I dont believe its hardware either, I scanned both of the disks seperately with a diagnostic disk.

I would be interesting if you get yours back and they have changed the stripe size to 64k

By the way your Stripes will be 128K if your Vaio is still set with the defaults.

128k is the default Stripe size for RAID 0 and for RAID 10.
64K is the default for RAID 5 only

You can set, for speciallised uses, 128k/64k/32k/16k/8k/4k for RAID 0 and RAID 10
RAID 5 minimum size is 16K.
