Hello,
Is it possible to upgrade from an i3 to an i7 processor in the vpceb1soe model? Also, would it be worth it cost wise and is it it a straight forward operation, or does it require a pro?
Many thanks in advance!

Hi,
I suppose everything is possible but I don't think it will be very cost effective.
The newer SandyBridge processors will not fit so you would have to find an Arrandale processor - the fastest available is probably the Core i7-640M @ 2.8GHz. The RRP is just under £500 but you can find it discounted at around £270. Fitting may cost £100.

I'm not exactly sure which socket your Vaio has, 988 or 1288, so you would need to check.
Personally, I don't think it is worth it and it may bring more problems than advantages.
I would leave well alone.
