Unfortunately the TX2 doesn't have a TV-out of any form. Hence I'd like to use the VGA output and use an adapter to display the laptop's output (videos via Media Player in particular) on a TV screen. An example of the cable I mean is at the following link:
http://cgi.ebay.com/VGA-to-TV-Converter-S-Video-RCA-OUT-Cable-Adapter-A06 _W0QQitemZ250058753384QQihZ015QQcategoryZ41999QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Would this work with the TX2? Please give full details. Also the same question for my other laptop, a VGN-FS115S.
Thanks
Hi Runes and welcome to Club Vaio.
At that price you can give it a try but I don't think it will work.
Your VGA outputs a RGB signal with additional sync information - this cannot be converted to analogue video without an expensive scan converter LIKE ONE OF THESE
Hi Blencogo,
Thanks for the reply.... am just not sure what the requirements are for the cable to work, does the sync information cause such cables to fail completely? My purpose is to display video etc on a TV screen, and the more expensive adapters aren't worth the outlay for just playing back the odd video. It's just annoying it doesnt have an inbuilt S-Video! Is there an official Sony product that does the trick?
Cheers
