Vaio PCG-K215S Memory Problem.

Hi, I just bought some new memory for my vaio. It states on sony website, max memory 1024mb
So i bought 2 512mb sticks. (Consair 512mb 333mhz so-dimm ddr1). When i have fitted them it still reports in bios i have only 512mb fitted. Remove one of the sticks and ir reports 256mb fitted. Its like the bios is set at 256mb per bank. How do i reset this or is there a bios upgrade for this... Thanks Paul.....

What does Windows report in System Properties?

I have a feeling we have had this problem before with Corsair modules and I don't recall a solution. I think there is an incompatability with some Corsair memory sticks.

Windows Reports 512MB Of RAM

Does this model not have bios updates.

I had this with my old laptop. Turns out the chips were fine but the laptop would only see half the memory per chip (256 per chip not 512).

The solution was to change the density of the chips.

The first chips I tried had 4 modules per side, the new ones that worked has 8 per side.

Yeh Mine has only 4 chips per side.
