upgrading netbook from XP

We have a netbook (VPCW11S1E) which is just over a year old, but isn't on the list of models that can be upgraded from XP to WIndows 7.

Has anyone managed to upgrade a netbook like this to Windows 7, or perhaps even Linux?

The VPCW12S1E seems to be the same netbook but sold with Windows 7 installed.

You should be able to purchase and install Windows 7 using the Drivers and Utilities for the VPCW12S1E from here: -

You will, of course, lose all the preinstalled Sony software which cannot be downloaded.
