Why is it that the trackpad will not work in Ubuntu?
This is terrible, all other laptop manufacturers are supporting Ubuntu as it is the up and coming linux distribution that everybody is talking about. I'm appalled that Sony not have the decency to support this basic functionality.
I always took them as a high standards company who make beautiful non-apple products. But this is disappointing. Ubuntu looks much nicer than Windows anyway, so they should be supporting something like it.
Anyway, if there is anybody out there who can help me, I would gladly appreciate it.

Hi.
First of all Sony doesn't officially support Linux at all. Only Windows. BUT
at the web you can find some communities vaio+linux users.
Ok, Now about touchpad. Which version of Ubuntu you are using? For touchpad you have to install synaptics drivers. Is it installed?
cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep Touchpad
cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep Synaptics
Try this commands. For new Vaio-model's touchpad Ubuntu have one trick. About it here: http://test.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1642205&highlight=vaio+touchpad
