Got a W1 recently and want to hook up the above Sony Digital box but I'm having some trouble. Used a Scart-SVHS cable, recieved a million channels with good strength/quality but they're all black and white!!! Proper Bo! Can anyone help me out?

Make sure you have either PAL or NTSC depending on where the TV stations are based.

Well check the software you're using to watch them.
As I don't know much about what you're using, all I know is that you need to have it in either PAL or NTSC.

I'm using Gigapocket, what are the alternatives?

I'm sure in the Gigapocket settings there's a setting for NTSC and PAL.

You need PAL(1) UK. If you can see your programs, you probably already have that programmed.

You said you are using the scart conversion cord? Does your freeview box have a "normal" cable out connection (looks just like the cable in)? if so, use that instead, there will be less connections and less places for data loss. Here is a photo of the back of my NTL box, for clarification.

thanks for everyone's help. in the end i swapped the scart-svhs for a scart-video cable and the problem is solved.
