Got this Vaio (VGN-FS515H) 8 months before, no problems whatsoever.
Recently the CD-DVD drive is playing a little. I experience all sort of wiered things when I try to read data from a CD or a DVD.
First of all it makes a lot of noise, sounds like it cant decide where to start reading from. Its not the ZooooooM sound thats when it is reading, it makes KHHII--CHING sound, for a while. Once it is done, I can see the drive lable changing, but if I go further to read the data, it starts to make the noise again. And hangs. And stays like that for long. This further results in slowing down the whole laptop. Even if I take the CD/DVD out, the machine stays dead slow. Even stays slow after restarting. Then every time I end up running system restore. The machine becomes fast and all that but returns to the slow era as soon I use the CD/DVD drive.
I have tried system recovery as well but with no luck.
Please help. This machine is still under warranty, but cant afford to send it to SONY and stay away from it for so long as my everyday work is totally dependant on it.
