screen changing

Hi

I am not happy with the Vaio Display of my VPCF22M0E. very poor angles and bad image quality, I was expecting more from a laptop which is considered for graphic purposes like the Vaio.

I would like to change my screen with a Vaio Display Premium.

Could you help me to understand if is possible to upgrade my screen, where could I do it and how much would it cost?

thanks for any help

Hi Sergio83 and welcome.

I think this would be a very difficult upgrade as the whole design and purpose of the VPCF22 Vaio is influenced by the 3D Stereoscopic Display which is significantly thicker than the VPCF11 display.  In fact the entire laptop is much thicker due to its 3D capabilities and it may be difficult to get the thinner display to fit easily.  You will certainly invalidate any warranty.

Sony will not provide this upgrade, so you will need to speak to an engineer about this.

I cannot find the parts required in the UK but as a minimum, you will need a new screen panel and a new inverter.  In the USA I can only find the 16.4 inch 1600 X 900 panel which costs about $230 and the inverter $70. A higher resolution would cost more.

Probably the best thing you can do is to speak to one of Sony's Service Partners near where you live to see if this is even possible - you will find a full list here: -

Thank you very much, usefull reply.

I would also like to express here all my disappointemnt with Sony Vaio. A laptop that is suppose to be for graphic, should not have a screen which forces you to move your head in order to visualize correclty the images from a corner to another.

I paid 950 pound for this very poor quality.

Next time I will go for Dell Precision.

My 6 year old Dell Precision has a better quality screen than this new Vaio.

Thumb DOWN
