Replacement DVD drive for a PCG-GRT816S

Hi,

I’m looking for a replacement DVD drive for a PCG-GRT816S – the drive in it has been temperamental for most of its life.

Any ideas would be much appreciated, I’ll have a look on EBay, does anyone know if Sony may still stock replacement drives for this laptop – purchased towards the end of 2003?

Many thanks – they got back to me: $328.00 for the DVD RW drive, seems high, but laptop drives are always overpriced, what do you think?

$328 is way over the top! Do you know the model number of the optical drive, if so try e-Bay.

dont buy accesories from sony! -way overpriced. i bought my laptop direct, which was fine, but for 512 ram they want £300-thats GBP, not dollars. i found the same ram for £35 so thats what i'm getting.
