Remote Control on VGN-AR21S with Vista

Hi all,
after upgrading my AR21S to Vista (not really an upgrade, I have done the fresh install acording to the booklet I have received) the System seems to work stable. Install was possible only if I strictly do the steps written in the booklet 🙂
Even Media-Center works. But I have a problem with the remote-control supplied with the notebook. It's named RM-MCE10E. I have not found any way to force a reaction on the Notebook while pressing a key on the remote control. What I can see is a red LED on the Notebook that becomes lighting if a press a key on the remote control. So for me it looks like the notebook is receiving signals, but no action occurs. Has anyone get this running?

Hi Andre and welcome to Club Vaio.

Have you downloaded and installed the Microsoft Hotfix KB905213 from MICROSOFT - this seems to work for most people.

Alternatively, turning off DEP works but is not the best solution.

I have the same problem since upgrading my AR21S to Vista.

The link provided is a hotfix for MCE 2005 for XP, not Vista.

Any other ideas?

I have exaclty the same issue on My AR217S after my Vista Express upgrade, sony Support said run the latest Sony Utility, I did I lost AV button , Eject button and Control Centre would not start up. De-installed all Sony utilities and re-installed to get back to where I am now, no Remote control and No Motion Eye. They are calling me back on Monday as they say this is the first time they have seen this.

I turned of DEP and I now have a working remote control. Not great but at leat I have a working media centre now.

I still can't get this to work. Even with DEP fully off. I think the issue is that instead of eHome device listed in USB Devices, I have unknown device. Uninstall/reinstall of Sony Utils DLL hasn't helped.

Any ideas?

Did anyone get back to you regarding this problem? i also upgraded to vista and cannot for the life of me get my camera back up and running, i dont care about the remote as i have a bluetooth media remote that works but i want my camera running. ive tried all steps suggested on the site and in the booklet with the disk but it keeps coming up as an unknown device 😞
ive tried installing xp driver packeges etc but still nothing. please please please help if you can.
