Hello Folks,
I'm planning a RAM upgrade for my FE-11M, meaning from 1 to 2 GB. What is the maximum RAM frequency I may install? Will 667 Mhz work? Will it be supported by the mainboard? The standard RAM modules which came with the laptop have 266 Mhz, and I do not know what to do.
Can someone please advise? many thanks,
Dragos
Hi,
I would use the same type as is in the laptop, after all using a higher frequency just won't improve performance if the board doesn't support it, it'll just be ignored and run at the speed it can handle.
Hi Kee-Lo, thanks for your quick answer!
I was wondering if any of you users here might know if the maiboard still copes with a higher frequency than the current RAM has, as I would like to get as much as it can take; therefore yes, it is soothing to know that too much frequency will not harm, but why invest in higher freq., if it won't be used anyway by the system?
That's why I'm trying to find out what the maximum for my VAIO config. is, to be able to upgrade accordingly.
Regards,
Dragos
Crucial.com's support team might well be able to help you find the right upgrade and they're cheaper than a lot of memory suppliers and reliable.
