PROBLEMS RESTORING AFTER BACKING UP FILES

I have a FE41E notebook and after having to do a full recovery, i needed to restore my files. I had made a back up of the files previously but once i tried to restore them a message said theat no back ups were made on this computer??
I had to do an advanced restore as if they had been made on a different notebook which was a pain to be honest. Does anyone know why it didn't work?

When you made a backup of your files where did you store the back-up files..?

Hi i stored them on a DVD+RW disk.

yes, i can actually look at the files on the DVD by clicking on the backup files but when i try to use the back up files wizard it just says that no back ups were made on the computer.

Are you not able to manually restore your backed up data..?
