Problem with Bluetooth install package from Sony support website

Hi there, There appears to be a Badly signed driver file within the Bluetooth Device-Driver install-package that is available on 'Downloads' section of Sony Customer-support web-page for Sony VAIO VPCJ23S1E/B PC. PC : Sony VAIO VPCJ23S1E/B OS : Windows 7 HomePremium 64-bit with Service-Pack 1 Hardware : unmodified from original purchase PC contains the factory-fitted Bluetooth unit (an Atheros AR3012 Bluetooth adapter) : Hardware ID: USB\VID_0489&PID_E036&REV_0001 1. Location of Driver install file: ----------------------------------- The device-driver file contained within the Driver Pack available at URL : http://download.sony-europe.com/PUB/VAIO/Original/BRDBLT-00248052-0042.zip?conditionsbox=on and found from the Support web-site : http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/product/VPCJ23S1E_B/downloads/BRDBLT_00248052_0042_5814 2. Details: ----------- This device-driver install-package includes the device-driver file : 'btwampfl.sys' Windows is reporting that the digital signature of this Bluetooth Device-Driver file "btwampfl.sys" has been revoked by its issuer. Signer information: Name: Broadcom Corporation Signing time: 16 March 2011 01:59:24 Certificate information: Issued to: Broadcom Corporation Issued by: VeriSign Class 3 Code Signing 2004 CA Valid from: 27/02/2009 to 20/04/2012 The "Device-Status" of the Bluetooth device shows "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)" Looking at the 'Driver Details' after the package is installed : C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\btwampfl.sys is marked as not signed. Looking at the 'Digital Signatures' tab within the Properties dialog of C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\btwampfl.sys shows the Digital Signature issued by Broadcom has been revoked and the following message is shown : "A certificate was explicitly revoked by its issuer." Any thoughts on remedying this ? Cheers, Steven

Hi all,

There appears to be a Badly signed driver file within the Bluetooth Device-Driver install-package that is available on the 'Downloads' section of Sony Customer-support web-page for Sony VAIO VPCJ23S1E/B PC.

    PC : Sony VAIO VPCJ23S1E/B

    OS : Windows 7 HomePremium 64-bit with Service-Pack 1

Hardware : unmodified from original purchase

The PC contains the factory-fitted Bluetooth unit (an Atheros AR3012 Bluetooth adapter) :

    Hardware ID: USB\VID_0489&PID_E036&REV_0001

1. Location of Driver install file:

-----------------------------------

The device-driver file contained within the Driver Pack available at URL :

    http://download.sony-europe.com/PUB/VAIO/Original/BRDBLT-00248052-0042.zip?conditionsbox=on

and found from the Support web-site :

    http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/product/VPCJ23S1E_B/downloads/BRDBLT_00248052_0042_5814

2. Details:

-----------

This device-driver install-package includes the device-driver file : 'btwampfl.sys'

Windows is reporting that the digital signature of this Bluetooth Device-Driver file "btwampfl.sys"

has been revoked by its issuer.

  Signer information:

    Name: Broadcom Corporation

    Signing time: 16 March 2011 01:59:24

  Certificate information:

    Issued to: Broadcom Corporation

Issued by: VeriSign Class 3 Code Signing 2004 CA

    Valid from: 27/02/2009 to 20/04/2012

The "Device-Status" of the Bluetooth device shows :

"Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"

Looking at the 'Driver Details' after the package is installed :

    C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\btwampfl.sys

is marked as not signed.

Looking at the 'Digital Signatures' tab within the Properties dialog of

    C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\btwampfl.sys

shows the Digital Signature issued by Broadcom has been revoked

and the following message is shown :

"A certificate was explicitly revoked by its issuer."

Any thoughts on remedying this ?

Cheers,

Found an alternative driver installation package for my PC's Atheros Bluetooth adapter  ( Atheros AR3012 )
on the HP consumer support web-site :

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?cc=us&lc=en&softwareitem=ob-104097-1

This installs and the Bluetooth adapter works perfectly.

Any ideas why the Sony driver installation package is not working ?

Is there any chance that an updated driver package going to be available ?

Cheer,

Steven
