Does anyone know how to get rid of the gey pop-up box asking to connect to the internet to download updates every time I switch on?

Either open IE and paste this link into the address bar:

http://club.vaio.sony.eu/myclubvaio/reinstaller/beta/publish.htm

This is a beta fix which will allow MCV to update and actually work properly.

Alternatively, you may wish to turn the startup window off altogether - to do this go to Task Scheduler and delete any scheduled tasks for My Club Vaio (MCV).
