Can you tell me if my computer will work normally if I erase my first hard disk (part C for the OS) in NTFS instead of Fat 32.
I have a problem of synchronism and speed.
If you go to Start - Help and Support and type convert ntfs into the search box then you will find full instructions on how to do the conversion. NTFS is not really any quicker than FAT32 - it is much more secure and less liable to experience errors though.
If you are getting glitches when accessing media on your hard drive then try defragmenting it. The utility is at Start - All programs - Accessories - System Tools - Disk Defragmenter.
Also make sure that you have plenty of free space available on the drive. If you have a second drive or partition then it is a good idea to keep all of your media on that.
Yep, I find NTFS needs less defragmentation.
I don't like FAT32 much now.
Thank you for your reply
I will convert my hard disk into NTFS and I will let 10 Go for the operating system .
I will make a partition for the remainder of the disc.
Is it better to put the fastest disc in master and slowest as a slave?
Normally yes.
Hope it goes without any problems. Make sure you've got all your important data backed up before you begin.
Yeah, backup is the best idea before starting...
Ok thank you very much
I will put all on the new hard drive in order to save my files (in a part) than I will restore it in NTFS.
After I will put all files in the second part of the first one (the slowest) and erase the second hard drive in order to make it as a drive master.
One last thing that I've just remembered - if you are using SonicStage make sure you use the SS backup tool before moving any media files.
Ok thank you Rob
