My laptop's hard disk drive is dead ( 60 giga ultra ata 100), If i buy a 120 giga ultra ata 100, can it work with this hdd ? no compatibility problem ?

Yes, any modern ATA drive will work - you can get these up to 160GB these days. The 7,200 rpm drives are the quickest but do tend to be a bit noisy - most people find a 5,400 rpm drive a good compromise between speed and noise.
You are lucky to have a K-Series Vaio. Changing the hard drive is just a five minute job - it has its own compartment which can be accessed from the bottom of your Vaio by removing one screw.
