PC freezing

In the last few days, my RZ424 has started doing 2 weird things now and agian:

1. When on flight sim 2004 PC just freezes at random points, only way to combat is to turn PC on and off with main switch.

2. Sometimes sound just goes and won't come back. All drivers appear to work fine, but when I try to play an MP3 or CD using Sonicstage or ITunes or whatever the track won't play, and there's no internet browsing noises either. A restart solves this.

Anyone got any thoughts or any ideas on how I can troubleshoot these problems? I think (1) happened pre-XP SP2, but (2) only happened since the upgrade.

Could Spybot or Adaware or WinClean have deleted something essential? The spyware programs only find stuff like temp files etc... but Winclean sometimes deletes registry items. I'd have thought though that any deleted item that shouldn't have been deleted would give major probs, not these random, infrequent niggles I'm experiencing.

Many thanks.

The two problems could be connected to the same thing.....and yes deleting a registry entry could do that. I would suggest going to www.vaio-link.com, download and install the latest sound card driver for your machine and see if the problem is solved.
