Hi Chaps,
Can anyone help me on this one, I have been trying to get my XL201 to output a DD 5.1 signal, I have my XL connected via HDMI to a DENON AVR4306 Receiver and the Optical out from the XL is also connected to the DENON, I can watch and listen to all my media via the AMP and my Sony LCD, I can mute the AMP so as I can listen to the Audio just via the LCD TV Speakers, this is great at night, when I want to Pump up the Volume I just unmute the DENON turn down the LCD speakers and away I go.
This is working great, great sound and pictures, but the Audio output to the amp is PCM, I want to get DD 5.1 from the AMP, so I downloaded and installed the NVIDA PureVideo Decoder, all went well, I got the DD 5.1 audio going in to my DENON from the XL201 and it sounds great, much better than the PCM signal, all the lights on my DENON are showing me a DD 5.1 input, Now the problem, I am unable to get any sound going to the LCD, I get picture but no audio,
Has anyone got any ideas, If I uninstal the NVIDA Decoder it all goes back to normal, sound through the amp and the LCD,
Looking forward to any replies,
Cheers,
Dave
Hi Dave,
I'm afraid I can't help you, but maybe you can help me. I have an XL201 and want to get 5.1 going to my Amp, so may install this Nvidia PureVideo Decoder. Did you uninstall anything before installing this, or does it overwite something else? After installation, do you have to configure anything in XP to make it use this decoder?
Thanks,
Andy
Hi Andy,
I downloaded the software from Nvidas website, all I done was run it and it installed fine, the only thing I can see is that it overrides the existing Audio control settings, by the way you will have to pay for the software, its not free, I think it was about $30,
Let me know if I can be of anymore help,
Cheers,
Dave
Hi Dave, I read somewhere else that you don't need to install the Nividia driver to get the 5.1 sound going to the amp. I tried what I read and it worked. Like you, I was only getting PCM going to my amp.
So all you do is go to Control Panel on the XL201, and go to 'Sound and Audio devices' and set the speaker settings to 5.1. Then go to 'Sound Reality Control Panel' (or something like that), go to the advanced tab, and you can change the settings for the SPFI(?) or HDMI outputs to AC3 and not PCM. Now my amp shows a 5.1 input.
Hope that helps.
