Actually it's probably a good idea if you have clumsy family members....

I have recently installed SP2 and the most recent updates for Dvdshrink and Anydvd.

Could SP2 be responsible ?
Could you see the files on the DVD+R ? I mean : when you open the device with Explorer, do you see the content of the DVD ?

Hi "dcabbott", my laptop had the same problem with yours. I own a GRT815M, and I recognized that DVD drive of Sony is very sensitive. It cannot read many kind of disk (DVD and CD), my old laptop (FX702) also can not read some CD+R, that it had just burned. So in my opinion, you should buy another DVD brand:smileysad: . Iam using BenQ DVD+R, it works just fine, you should try it. Have a good time:smileywink: .
