Got three of these, all have same problem out of the box. The Sigma Hi-def codec/hardware doesn't seem to get on very well with the AverMedia drivers. I am up to date with VAIO Update 3, also up to date with Microsoft Updates (critical & optional).
USB speakers work fine, but that's not really the answer. Also happens on my LA-1 sometimes
