My loptop keeps crashing when I put the screen down.

I think the laptop goes into either sleep or hibernate mode when I put the screen down, when I open the screen and press any key it crashes with funny lines on the screen.

What model do you have?

Have you installed the lastest drivers from the downloads page?

It is model number VGN-N21E, and I went through the set up process/ downloading drivers.

Can you try this and let me know whether it still happens?

Click "Start"

Type "Power Options" and hit enter

On the left hand plane click "Choose what closing the lid does"

Next to the label that says "When I close the Lid" there is a drop down box.

Change this to "Do Nothing" for both battery and plugged in

Now click "Save Changes"

Now shut the lid as you did before to make it play up and let me know what happens

EXCELLENT!!

Nothing happened. So now I should be able to download / install things and close the screen down without it crashing or going in sleep mode. (Stops my 2 yr old from coming along and happy slapping on the keys as well!)
