memory stick pro duo slot problem

Hi.
My vaio fe21m memory stick pro duo slot doesn't work.
I think i made something stupid like unistalling drivers or something like that.
Insering the memory stick nothing happen, and "memory stick" voice isn't show in control panel.
Which is the related driver/folder driver?

Never use this slot before.. maybe is a defect one.
Help me please!
Tahnk you all

Giulio

I can't guarantee this will work, but it might. I'm assuming you're still using XP but it should be similar if you're using Vista...

Open Device Manager (Start -> Right Click on My Computer -> Properties -> Hardware -> Device Manager)
Double Click on Disk Drives
Right Click on the Memory Stick Device -> Uninstall -> follow prompts and reboot when it's done.

XP should/will re-install the device when it reboots and hopefully it'll work properly.

D'oh :slight_frown:

Have you tried blowing in the slot to clear out any debris? I just dug out my steering wheel and the pedals wouldn't work because there were some dog hairs stuck in the socket. Probably safer to use compressed air - I expect saliva would just make it worse.

I've lost count of the number of times I've recovered my computers because of one little thing so that's always worth a try. Just make sure, unlike I did, you use a backup method that isn't going to die on you before you get to restore everything.

If you can't get it to work raise an issue with e-support and if they can't help you fix it and your laptop is still in warranty then definitely send it back to Sony. If it's out of warranty then it would almost certainly be an awful lot cheaper to buy one of those multi card readers.
