well i've finally got an answer.....

only sony can fit the memory as its not accessible by simply pulling the back cover of £240! ouch think i'll hang on for the time being......

Thats nonsense.
Most people do their own installations of memory.
If anyone with a V1 can help - I hope they can.

if sony have pulled a money making scam like that then ill be losing a little bit of respect for them today....

for all the years ive been into computers there has always been one simple upgrade the user can perform, memory upgrades..

I think I may switch off for 10 mins and have a delve into my w1, not that its the same as the v1 but it will give some indication..

right, sorry gshayer if this isnt going to be in your case....

for the w1, its easy peasy, didnt even have to shut down to look...

the main pc section(the bit behind the screen) has a little button on the left hand side, push it down and slide it to the right, it comes right off and the first thing you see on the left hand side is 2 memory slot, 1 used and 1 empty, its almost begging you to fill it....

so gshayer if you see a little plastic button on the casing of your v1, it may be worth giving it a push down and sliding it to see if it unveils anything... your responsability though....

okay, no respect lost to sony......phew.

no button only screws

after some careful 'unscrewing' (now how many times have u said! that)

no slots for memory only powersupply and other wires and boxes.......think you have to delve deeper into the heart of the pc to find the memory slots

having talked to the guy at sony was told its a strip down job only a technican can do this, was told that this is the only sony pc which the customer cant upgrade himself!

this is a downer, as i had hoped to upgrade said memory myself........and was told by salespersons from sony that i could do it myself.

£240 is lot of cash
